Note: Starting in 2015-16, the English Literature and Linguistics Department is instituting slight changes in the BA requirements in literature. Students who began their studies before the fall of 2015-16 are still subject to the old requirements, which are listed here for their convenience.
The 2015-16 program includes electives in the 6xx range level. Students who began before 2015-16 are welcome to choose from these as part of their electives, but should note that 6xx-level courses do not offer a seminar paper option.
Students in the Expanded Major track must take two courses in the 6xx range. These courses can be taken starting in the second year of studies.
Total: 4 credits
Students in the Expanded Major track must take seven seminars.
Starting in their second year, students can take seminars numbered in the 4xx-level range.
In their third year, students can take seminars numbered in the 4xx- and 7xx-level range.
Students in the Expanded Major track are required to write three seminar papers ("long papers"). Seminar papers can only be written in the third year, and the student can choose in which seminars to write them.
Total: 14 Credits
Students in the expanded major track must take three courses outside the department.
