Although research on linguistic abilities has been accumulating, we still don’t know what the underlying causes are and what affects them or whether the linguistic profile that some children present is merely delayed or a deficit? After reviewing the common characteristics of language in children with ASD, we will discuss the special and universal linguistic traits that seem to be oblivious of language structures and culture as well as debate the possibility that the linguistic profile seen in children with ASD may be a form of DLD. Finally, we will try to elucidate the specific areas of linguistic functioning that many children with ASD seem to struggle with and consider different developmental factors that may be contributing to the lack of uniformity between individuals on the spectrum.     Subscribe to our Telegram channel to get notified about upcoming talks and events אוניברסיטת בר-אילן internet.team@biu.ac.il Asia/Jerusalem public

Title: Linguistic profiles of children with ASD

Communication in general and linguistic abilities in particular, constitute formidable obstacles for many children with ASD.
