Title: Age-Related Differences in the use of semantic context and the effects of competition
There is a consensus in the literature that older adults can make advantage of semantic context in spoken language understanding. They utilize their knowledge of and experience with the language to compensate for sensory and cognitive decline. However, less is known about age-related differences in the use of contextual information, and especially about the cognitive cost of using context. This talk will cover recent data and future directions in the field.
