Linguistics Colloquium: Adam Schembri
Adam Schembri, University of Birmingham
Title: Sign language corpus projects: What we have learned about Auslan and BSL
In this paper, I will focus on two recent linguistic studies using sign language corpus data. The first will explore the use of mouth actions in data from the Auslan Corpus, and the second the use of verb directionality in the BSL Corpus. I will show how corpus data both helps us to answer old questions in the sign language linguistics literature as well as think of new ones.
